Children’s Education

There are currently over 250 children registered to with the mosque and it's education arm , The Rumi Centre , for Islamic studies. The mosque currently has 12 teachers, 6 male and 6 female. The minimum registration age for a child is 5.

Upon starting their mosque studies the children are first taught from the “YassralQuran” book to familiarise them with the Arabic alphabet and word formation. At the same time children are taught basic tenants of faith. This is done through weekly assemblies, class discussions and stories. We have compiled our own child friendly book to teach children the articles of faith and Islamic prayer. This book is in easy to read English.

The child progresses from class 1 to class 5. By class 5 the child should be proficient in Qur'an reading with tajveed , be aware of the articles of faith , laws with regards to purity , prayer and other necessary Islamic knowledge. Annual Examinations are held followed by an award ceremony. Also a yearly report is sent to the parents.

We have a dedicated Hifdh teacher to teach those children who wish to memorise the Qur'an.

The classes take place very weekday from 5PM-7PM.

There is no fixed fee per child. However the parents have to take up membership of the mosque which is currently £60 per year.
